We opened Cozy Quilt Shop in January of 2003. We had always wanted to do
it and after many months of planning and exploring, we took the leap. Why “Cozy
Quilt Shop”? The kids call a blanket of any kind a “cozy.” When they are cold, or
when they are sick, they ask for a cozy. It's a name that means home and comfort
to us. And that’s just what we wanted for our new store.
We have 4,500 square feet of space and offer over 3,000 bolts of top-quality quilting
fabric from manufacturers such as Moda, Benartex, RJR, Hoffman, P&B, South Seas,
Free Spirit, Alexander Henry, Red Rooster, Andover, Michael Miller, Timeless Treasures,
Avlyn, Bali Fabrics, Island Batiks, and Maywood. We offer classes, inspiration,
and the friendliest staff around. We are big enough to have a great in-store selection.
But we aren’t too big to forget about our customers.
As we grew, we started to offer things truly unique to Cozy Quilt Shop. We launched
our own line of patterns called Cozy Pattern Originals. We also launched
the greatest “of-the-month” program called Strip Club. Each month we offer a coordinated
bundle of about 40 strips pre–cut at 2½” and a new original pattern to help you
put the strips to use. We have a lecture once a month to debut the new sample and
present the pattern. It's a lot of fun for everyone and everyone is welcome.
In the Area
We are located just 11 minutes East of downtown San Diego in an unincorporated area
locally known as Rancho San Diego. We are close to many shopping and entertainment
options. Target and Staples are across the street.
Kohl's and Ross are just down the street.
You can tell our neighborhood is growing, because we just got our second area
Starbucks, which happens to be in our shopping center (and it's a drive-thru).
We also just got a Michael's.
If you are traveling with non-quilters, we are close to three major golf courses,
movie theaters, horse back riding, even a Casino. Drop them off and spend the day
with us!
And, of course, we have dining options. In our own shopping center there is Tabu
Sushi, a wonderful Japanese place, Press Box, a sports pub, and Da Boyz Pizza, for
Italian food. Across the street is TGI Fridays, Rubios and the Irish pub, Hooleys.
Close by is Appleby’s, Taste of Italy, and Savannah Grill. If you prefer food from
south of the border, we have two great Mexican options- Hilbertos and Las Paraillas.
Chinese? No problem. We have three close-by. We joke that all we need is a Hof Brau
and we’ll have everything in our little corner of the world!
